Point-by-Point Comparison

LED Technology

Govee Pro

RGBIC strip with individual LED control. Each segment independently addressable for unlimited patterns.

Jellyfish

Individual bulb caps in a track. Each cap is independently controllable.

Verdict: Both offer individual LED control. Govee uses continuous strips; Jellyfish uses discrete caps. Visual effect is similar from street distance.

Brightness & Visibility

Govee Pro

Large, bright LEDs that face downward to illuminate the entire property including facade, landscaping, and walkways.

Jellyfish

Smaller individual caps that create a point-light effect. Very clean, distinct dots of light along the roofline.

Verdict: Different aesthetics. Govee Pro creates broader wash of light across your property. Jellyfish creates defined individual points. Both look great at night.

Govee Pro

16 million+ colors with smooth gradient transitions between adjacent LEDs. Excellent for flowing rainbow and gradient effects.

Jellyfish

16 million+ colors with sharp transitions between individual caps. Great for crisp, defined multi-color patterns.

Verdict: Tie. Both offer the full RGB spectrum. Govee excels at gradients; Jellyfish excels at crisp multi-color patterns.

App & Smart Control

Govee Pro

Govee Home app (free, no subscription). WiFi + Bluetooth. Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT compatible. Hundreds of pre-made scenes.

Jellyfish

Jellyfish

$30-40/ft through authorized dealers. Pricing varies by market and dealer.

Verdict: Govee Pro through DFW LED Lite costs 33-50% less for comparable features.

Warranty & Service

Govee Pro

3-year warranty on parts AND labor from DFW LED Lite. Local service in Dallas-Fort Worth within days.

Jellyfish

Warranty varies by dealer. Some offer 2 years parts only. Service depends on dealer availability.

Verdict: DFW LED Lite's 3-year parts + labor warranty is more comprehensive than most Jellyfish dealer warranties.

Replacement Parts

Govee Pro

Govee Pro components are widely available. Standard form factors mean you're never locked into one supplier.

Jellyfish

Proprietary light caps and hardware. Replacements must come through Jellyfish dealers only.

Verdict: Govee Pro's open ecosystem gives you more flexibility long-term. Jellyfish locks you into their supply chain.

The Night-Time Visual Difference

When you see both systems at night, the most noticeable difference is the light pattern. Govee Pro strips create a continuous wash of light that cascades down from your eaves, illuminating your home’s facade, landscaping, walkways, and yard in a broad, even glow. It’s architectural lighting that happens to do spectacular colors.

Jellyfish creates more of a “point light” effect — individual, distinct dots of color along your roofline. It’s clean and precise, with each cap clearly visible as a separate light source. The effect is more decorative and less “whole property illumination.”

Both look impressive. The question is whether you prefer broad functional lighting (Govee Pro) or defined decorative points (Jellyfish) — and whether that aesthetic preference is worth a 33-50% price premium.

Long-Term Ownership: What Matters After Year 1

The first year with any permanent LED system is great. The real test is years 2-10, and this is where the business model matters:

  • Replacement parts: If a Govee Pro section fails, replacement strips are widely available. If a Jellyfish cap fails, you need to order through your dealer — and that dealer needs to still be in business.
  • System expansion: Want to add lighting to a new patio cover? Govee Pro extensions are standard. Jellyfish extensions go through the dealer with dealer markup.
  • Warranty service: DFW LED Lite services warranty claims directly — same team that installed your system, same phone number. Jellyfish warranty depends on which dealer installed yours and whether they’re still operating.
  • Technology updates: Govee regularly updates their app with new features and scenes available to all users. Jellyfish app updates come from Jellyfish corporate.

Our Honest Take

Jellyfish makes a quality product. If you specifically prefer their point-light aesthetic and don't mind the premium pricing, it’s a legitimate choice. We respect the product.

That said, for the vast majority of DFW homeowners, Govee Pro installed by DFW LED Lite delivers comparable (or better) performance at significantly lower cost, with a stronger warranty and the peace of mind of a local, owner-operated business. The $1,500-3,000 you save can go toward additional lighting features, landscaping, or simply staying in your pocket.
